A man who was shot and killed by unidentified miscreants at his house in Angel Pine about 4.25pm on Friday, may have been dead for a week before neighbours found his body. The victim is identified as Sonny Vastola (30), who worked as a press secretary. But police are appealing for anyone who may have heard gunshots or seen anything suspicious in the area about 3am on Saturday, July 22. Detective Inspector Roland Sylvester said investigators were still working to establish the circumstances of the man's death and could not provide extra details about how he died, but said it was too early to know whether his death was related to any of his business dealings. He said police believe the man may have been shot a week ago, but was found on Saturday when someone tried to visit the house. "There will be a reason behind this, there's always a reason behind it. Whether or not the victim is known to the offender, that's what the investigation will uncover," Inspector Sylvester said. The neighbours informed the police on knowing about the death. Cops took custody of George's body and sent it for post-mortem to SSG Hospital Neighbour Jamie Dickens said the man mostly kept to himself. However, he said there were always people "coming in and out" of the man's house. Mr Dickens said he believed the man lived alone and had rented the house for about eight years. "I don't know what's really happened to him," he said. "He was a nice man, a very nice man." The street remained cordoned off by police on Saturday, as homicide detectives returned to the scene.
