The group, which went through three bosses between 1960 and 2017, was formed by Joseph Accardo, boss of the family at the time and also the first founder of the family itself. The family traces its roots to 1968 when Joseph Accardo took over Paul Mangano's territory in Eastern Los Santos and established Accardo's Barrels as their first front for any criminal activities. They became the most powerful crime family after Joseph's eldest son, Johnny Accardo, made his reputation and eventually became the new boss of the family following of Joseph's retirement, when the structure of organized crime first gained public attention. Johhny Accardo moved his family into extortion, truck hijacking, and illegal gambling operations including lotteries. Johnny Accardo served as the boss of the family from 1990, untill his death in July 2017 due to a heart attack. With Johnny's death, his most loyal servant and also his trusted person in the family, Junior Cappa rose to take the opposition as the new boss. He also merged the rest members of Cappa Crew into the Sunset Boulevard Crew in an attempt for substituting Cappa Crew's old position as the one of the eight crews of Accardo Crime Family. And now, Sunset Boulevard Crew has become the one of the eight crews of Accardo Crime Family.
