An intense, gnawing hunger gripped his stomach, a direct consequence of oversleeping for over a dozen hours due to sheer physical exhaustion. Stumbling into the kitchen to find something to eat, he discovered the refrigerator was completely empty, leaving him with absolutely nothing. Driven by an unbearable hunger and a stomach that refused to stop rumbling, Ethan hastily grabbed his car keys, threw on his jacket, and immediately hit the gas, tearing through the cold night streets in search of the nearest open eatery. Ethan drove until his eyes caught the neon glow of a twenty-four-hour diner sitting by the side of a deserted highway. After parking his vehicle, he stepped inside and immediately ordered a massive meal to satisfy his raging appetite. In the quiet restaurant, he was served by a female employee named Vienna, who was working the late-night shift alone. Ethan devoured his food ravenously, oblivious to his surroundings, and paid the bill with the last remaining cash in his wallet before stepping back outside, his hunger finally appeased. Unfortunately for Ethan, misfortune was waiting for him the moment he climbed back into the driver's seat. When he turned the ignition, the car’s engine merely sputtered violently a few times before dying completely, accompanied by a thin plume of smoke rising from beneath the hood. Ethan froze in panic, stranded in the dead of night without a working vehicle and with a now-empty wallet. Desperation quickly clouded his sanity as his gaze drifted back into the diner, catching sight of Vienna calmly counting stacks of cash at the register. A dark thought consumed his mind: he would rob the waitress to get the quick cash needed to fix his car. Ethan quietly stepped out of the car, sneaking toward the back door of the restaurant and hiding in the shadows of the silent alleyway. The moment he was waiting for arrived when Vienna walked out of the back exit, carrying a large black trash bag. Wasting no time, Ethan aggressively ambushed Vienna from behind, grabbing her tightly and snarling a harsh threat, warning her not to scream and to hand over all the restaurant's money if she wanted to live. However, Ethan never expected that the waitress standing before him was anything but a helpless target. Vienna maintained an unnervingly cold composure; with a swift, calculated twist and trained self-defense maneuvers, she broke free from Ethan's grasp and backed away to a safe distance. Before Ethan could even process what had happened, Vienna drew a concealed firearm from beneath her work apron and opened fire without hesitation. The hot bullets tore into Ethan's body, sending him staggering backward before he collapsed onto the cold asphalt, bleeding profusely.
