$OCEANSIDE$ Posted February 18 Posted February 18 W/S Oriental Parkway Boyz (W/S OPBZ), also known as Oriental Parkway Bloods or Long Beach Parkway Boyz, is an Asian-American street gang based in Verona Beach. OPBZ is dominated by members of Asian-American descent, the majority of whom are of Chinese, Hmong, or Cambodian ancestry. The gang originally started as a group / community of Asian descent in Verona who banded together to fight racial issues directed at Asians, and later developed into a street gang that controlled the Verona Beach area and a small part of Santa Maria Beach. Racial Issues, Crime, and The Golden Era The late '60s until the early '70s were a period of horrific discrimination against Asians in Los Santos. In 1975, as a result of racial tensions, Verona's Chinatown burned down, it was claiming dozens of lives. At the same time, street gangs such as various sets of Crips and Surenos began to emerge and became involved in criminal acts, violence. assault, robbery, murder and the distribution of cocaine and heroin. Asians in Verona Beach area were often targets of violence and robbery by these street gangs. Shortly after, the presence of the Bloods street gang which resisted the intimidation and dominance of the Crips, felt like a needed breath of fresh air to the Asian community in Verona Beach. The group which initially protected only families and neighbors, then evolved into a larger, Bloods affiliated group, they're calling themselves the Oriental Parkway Boyz. In short, this group grew and became significantly involved in drug distribution. The OPBZ's golden era was in the late '90s, when they controlled most of the open air drug market in Southwest Los Santos even a small area of the Western part. The turnover of money and large amounts of drugs reached an all time high in these years. A Fall into Ruin The early 2000s were a period when the OPBZ began to decline. The arrogance of OPBZ members, which led to conflicts with increasingly powerful street gangs, was one of the causes. OPBZ clashed with many street gangs, including Rollin 80s West Coast Crips, Suicidal Town Crips, and Rollin 20s Crips. Armed conflicts between gangs often occurred in the Verona Beach area, especially between OPBZ and its rivals, with many casualties in each armed conflict. The high crime rate, increasing number of victims from the gangs involved in the conflict, and even members of the Los Santos Police Department, along with the growing evidence of crime each day, forced the LSPD to carry out a special operation in Verona Beach. The court also issued a gang injunction in this area, where OPBZ previously operated. Redemption During the gang injunction period, Steven “Flako” Wang, Isaac ‘Slim’ Tang, and Jayden “Pumpkin” Sophea, who were initially gang rookies at that time, recruited several younger members and quietly ran the gang's business and activities. By the end of 2025, the court lifted the gang injunction in the Verona Beach area because, after a long period of time, the LSPD had not detected any gang activity or crimes within certain limits since their special operation against OPBZ. The lifting of the gang injunction gave OPBZ more room to resume its gang activities. Olly “HoodSaint” Wu, Marlon "Nightmare" Soun, and Mason "Snowman" Phan, who are currently the most respected members, became the leaders of the gang's activities, focusing the gang on businesses such as cocaine distribution and conflicts with their rival cliques.
