          He was a former high-ranking partisan of the JNA army, as well as a loyal follower of Josip Broz Tito. Everyone in military circles knew him as a field marshal who was highly strategic in large scale operations in organizing partisans. His name was Rokossovsky Kovacevic, born on October 17, 1946, in Belgrade, Yugoslavia. Rokossovsky joined the military thanks to the help of his father, who was a member of the World War II partisan movement in an effort to expel the fascist German regime in Yugoslavia led by Josip Broz Tito.

 

          Thanks to his father's help, Rokossovsky was able to join the JNA army and meet its leader, Broz Tito, thanks to his father's easy approach as a respected veteran. May 4, 1980, was a day of mourning for the Yugoslavian people, as their father figure, Josip Broz Tito, had left them all forever. Rokossovsky, a military official, was quite anxious and fearful because the great leader who had united the multi-ethnic country was no longer there. Rokossovsky feared that the conflict that had been suppressed for decades would resurface among the Yugoslavian ethnic groups, especially the Serbs and Bosnians, who occasionally had differing opinions and ideologies.

 

          In the years following the death of the great leader Broz Tito, Rokossovsky's fears finally came true. Civil war between ethnic groups was inevitable, and conflict broke out in 1992 between the JNA army, which was on the Serbian side, and the ARBIH army, which was on the Bosnian side. As a marshal in one of the battalions, Rokossovsky had no choice but to mobilize his partisan forces to fight against the ARBIH faction. However, his two colleagues, Comrades Milos and Cvijetin, forbade Rokossovsky from mobilizing the battalion he commanded because it was in stark contrast to the JNA army's vision and mission of maintaining unity among the country's ethnic groups. With various pressures from within and outside the army, Rokossovsky chose his own path, which was to honorably retire from the military.
