The air was stale and heavy with the stench of rusty metal. His footsteps and the faint rustle of the wind through the wall slats were the only sounds in the warehouse. Although Wallace's face was expressionless as he watched from the corner of the room, it was obvious that he was extremely irate. They used to laugh and cry together as friends. But that was not the case anymore. Jaylen was trapped in a life he and Wallace had built—a lucrative but dangerous drug operation. The longer it continued, the more he believed his life was in jeopardy. The urge to flee intensified. He was no longer secure. Jaylen knew that continuing on this course would end his life as the police drew closer. In the hopes of being protected, he made the decision to assist the police by giving them details about their operation. However, that choice proved to be disastrous. The police began arresting Wallace's entourage, and Jaylen's betrayal was revealed earlier than he expected. For Wallace, who had considered Jaylen a brother, the betrayal was irrecoverable. This was not just business; it was about trust, now shattered. From then on, Jaylen knew that he would not survive. He tried reaching Wallace, to inform him that he had no other choice, but there was nothing to mend what was broken. Wallace and Jaylen did not encounter each other until at last, in that warehouse. Wallace drew a knife from his pocket in a fit of rage. He took a silent step forward and plunged the knife into Jaylen's abdomen. Appalled, Jaylen experienced a burning pain running through his body. Blood flowed out, and his muscles began to weaken. He had to speak, to explain himself, but his body would no longer cooperate. Wallace gazed at him for a few moments, his stoic expression revealing no remorse. Neither was there any remorse in his eyes, only smoldering anger. Wallace then turned and started walking towards the door, leaving Jaylen behind, sprawled on the cold warehouse floor. No regrets. Treachery must be rewarded in blood, and Wallace understood that Jaylen had been rewarded in blood. Jaylen lay still, his blood pooling around him. In the silence, his life drained away.
