$ONPOINT.$ Posted July 3, 2023 Posted July 3, 2023 Monte Vista Community Housing neighborhood encompasses the area between Central Avenue and Monte Vista Street. Additionally, their eastern territory extends into the cities of Holly Park. One notable area where the gang operates is the "Holly Park" region in East Los Santos, which is primarily known for being the home of the Clover Murda Gang. Within the larger gang, there is a subset known as the Monte Vista Flats. They are primarily based on Monte Vista Community Housing 1, between 6th Street and Los Flores Street, its also shared with another street gang called the Clover Murda Gang, who are predominantly African-American. Surprisingly, these two gangs have coexisted peacefully in the area since the circa 2022s. CONNECTION WITH THE MEXICAN MAFIA Monte Vista Flats 13 gang adopted the number 13 in the 1980s, which symbolizes the letter "M" in the alphabet and signifies their affiliation with the Mexican Mafia, also known as La EME. During the formation of the Mexican Mafia, incarcerated members of the Monte Vista Flats 13 gang (first generation) played a significant role. Saul "Tweaker" Pomar, a prominent member, was responsible for ordering attacks on nearby African-American gangs. Aaron "Ghost" Florencia, who is infamous for being a cop killer, stands out as one of the most ruthless members recruited by the Mexican Mafia within Gang. On April 22, 2020. According to the BBL news, Aaron was the primary suspect in the shooting of a Narcotics Officer, who was shot in the head while using a urinal in a public restroom. During the early 2010s, a comprehensive investigation was conducted to uncover the Monte Vista 13 gang's involvement in drug trafficking, extortion, and racially motivated murders, specifically targeting both gang-affiliated individuals and innocent African-American residents in the area. As a result of this investigation, indictments were issued in 2012, listing 102 members of the gang. Subsequently, 96 of them were apprehended, and by 2014, 94 individuals faced charges ranging from drug trafficking to murder. Some members were convicted, some pleaded guilty, while others managed to flee the country or even passed away during the course of the investigation. The membership of this group consists of individuals who have spent numerous years in the prison system. A significant number of newly recruited members have been identified as affiliated with Hispanic street gangs across Los Santos. Law enforcement has documented the majority of members as having the Mexican Mafia tattoo, and wearing it is strongly encouraged among all members. Members and affiliates of the gang maintain an unwavering loyalty to the criminal organization, both within prison walls and in communities. The gang asserts its dominance over other gangs throughout Los Santos by issuing violent threats against their members if they ever find themselves incarcerated. AFFILIATED TAGGING CREW WAS, also known as Weak Ass Steppers, is a tag banging crew associated with the Monte Vista Flats 13 clique, known for their sporadic yet noticeable presence in recent years. Their name can be found plastered across billboards, alleys, and store walls all over Los Santos. Unlike typical taggers who do it for monetary gain, WAS engages in this activity purely for fun and enjoyment it brings. The rush of running from the police after tagging a billboard or the adrenaline felt while trespassing on another tagger's turf and leaving their mark is what fuels their passion. Additionally, WAS members are involved in various activities such as skateboarding, drug dealing and usage, and engaging in mischief on the streets of Los Santos. Many of them have grown up in single-parent households in East Los Santos and have become influential figures within their community. Being part of this crew, their routine often involves attending school, getting high, and then embarking on tagging expeditions. This is the daily life of a typical WAS member.
