Her mother gave "Excella" on her surname in comparison of "Excellent", in hope of her daughter will always be excellent on whatever she does on the future. Her family is not rich but not poor either, it is an ordinary simple family with simple life. Marina is the only child in her family, so her family treat her like a princess despite of their economical circumstances. Her father and her mother make sure so their precious daughter would never felt hardship on her life. Knowing how her family treat her very well doesn't make her happy, instead she's really sad how their parents push themself very hard only to make her happy. She wanted them to be happy too. One day her age turned into 17, she graduated from her school. Living to her surname, Marina graduated as the best student in her school. Of course this make their parents really happy and so she does, she felt this is the first time she make her parents smile brightly. Being best graduate on her school open up many opportunities for her future, many prestigious university from around the world invited her to study on their university. One of them are Harvard University from USA. Of course, Marina is very interested to study there. Many people says if one graduate from Harvard University, your future is settled. Bright future is guaranteed. And so accepted their invitation, she applied for scholarship test too. With her intellectual skills, passing schollarship test is a piece of cake. A few days later, she got emails from Harvard university that her schollarship application is accepted. This bring joy to her family and herself, however their happiness did not last long. Even with scholarship help, fees to study there is roughly $46.466 a year. Many family would find this number is small, but not for Marina's family. For her family that number is really big sum and they could not afford it. Marina's father even willing to sell the family house for her daughter tuition fee, however Marina does not accept it. In one of the invitation she got from her school, came from Los Santos. A certain company is willing to take her as their trainee, eventually this would let her become fulltime worker. Marina sees this as an opportunity to repay her parents for everything they had done to her. Marina ask her parents permission to let her go to Los Santos, telling them to believe in her. Seeing their daughter resolution, they accepted. Received her parents permission and blessing, Marina flies to Los Santos to start her journey.
