Bernardo Posted January 28, 2019 Posted January 28, 2019 Character: Nishi_Zhurou Story: (Nishi Zhurou circa 1999, in colour) Before the incident, Nishi Zhurou was no one. He was merely a backdrop for early morning commutes. Another suit on the commuter train. With his eyes glued to the ground and his generic sense of fashion, he was just like everyone else. Yet he always felt misplaced, outcasted even. Despite looking the same, he couldn’t identify himself with all the others. Every other passenger didn’t speak his tongue-- they were Japanese. He was Taiwanese. He spent his first six months with this exaggerated thought in his head. It affected his social life, his work life, even his sex life; the latter non-existent, an effect of the prior causes. Stress only intensified under this feeling of alienation. The packed morning train always felt suffocating-- claustrophobic, to an extent. He sacrificed sleep to avoid rush hours. It was a poor choice, as it later on lead to the incident. It was an hour before midnight. His usual commuter line, bound towards Chuo ward, was almost empty. Almost. As he mindlessly stepped into one of the passenger cars, he didn’t realize what was happening. Inside, there was a group of people. Not just the usual group of people. There were five young men gathering around a young woman. These young men could easily be mistaken for Yakuza with their rugged appearance and their body-enclosing tattoos; yet Nishi knew they weren’t. On the back of their necks were mandarin characters. Only a native speaker could distinguish the difference in those strokes with the Japanese Kanji. They were Triads. The young woman looked traumatized. Tears washed away her eyeliner and that black ink only smeared her cheeks. Her shirt was torn; underwear stripped away. She was practically naked. Disgusting, unsanitary fluids trickled down her legs. The scene quite explained the situation. “Hey, what are you doing here, retard boy. Gotta pay to watch, ha,” snarked the shortest man in the group-- which probably was the leader, spoken in broken, street Japanese. It was obvious why they called him 'retard boy'. His disposition was timid. His eyes looked towards to the floor more than to them. His loose suit only made him look skinny and smaller than he actually was. “I can understand you fine like this,” Nishi replied in Mandarin. “What did you do to her?” The group of young men stared at each other, shocked that Nishi spoke Mandarin. Then they laughed. To which said leader replied in Mandarin; “we’re just having fun? What are you going to do retard boy? Save her?” “Yes,” Nishi replied, too soft to be audible by them. “What’s that big boy?” Questioned the apparent leader in a condescending, melodic tone. Nishi’s eyes were glued to the floor at that moment. He contemplated and hesitated upon acting. But he needed to. His frustration and stress had built up to a point that he’d sacrifice anything to gain sanity. And being emasculated before a group of people only irked him. Nishi stood up. His fingers tense. He glared at the leader of the group; his eyes in particular, as Nishi gauged them out in a cheap sucker-punch-like initiation. The rest of the group was then subdued, at the cost of a few broken bones and a bruised face for Nishi. He couldn’t go to work tomorrow because of that. But he got what he wanted. He let his stress out. He became a hero. And now, he needed his reward. “You saved me, thank you. Thank you very much,” said the Japanese woman. “You’re welcome,” Nishi replied, before he raped her. The incapacitated Triad members could only watch. Horrified by the eccentricities of this strange man. A year later he became a Triad enforcer with direct connections to the American Yùnhé shuǐ. With a clean criminal record, he was later sent to Los Santos to become an auditor. That was obviously just a legal ruse behind their massive crime ring. He became the Nishi Zhurou everyone knew.
