Born on April 24th 2008, Devon's humble beginnings on the South Side of Los Santos provide the foundation for his struggles. Being the second-to-last child in a large family, Devon never had much in terms of individuality. His reliance on hand-me-downs and growing up on the poverty line. The absence of a father figure, coupled with a hardworking mother, meant that Devon often had to fend for himself. This lack of attention and guidance led him down a path of petty theft.

 

Devon mother’s decision to send him to live with relatives on West Side of Los Santos was an attempt to provide him with a fresh start. However, the influence of his cousins, who were deeply involved in drug use and the street life, only served to dragged him deeper into a life of substance abuse and delinquency. Only growing worse in the short experience at Crenshaw High School — where he was expelled due to his drug use. His escapism through drugs made the mundane world seem more bearable, but it also added to his internal struggle, showing a young man looking for a way out but not yet understanding what success could truly look like. His crimes escalated, from stealing food to dirt bikes and eventually breaking into homes, which led him to his first arrest.

 

This time was crucial for his growth. It forced him to confront the brutal truth about survival in a world where loyalty, respect, and power were currency.  Upon his release just before his 19th birthday, Devon reconnected with his cousins, who had been waiting for the right moment to bring him into their fold. As he joined the family business with a local crip gang, Devon found his first taste of legitimate work while still maintaining ties to the street life. Working as a taxi driver gave him some stability, but his dual life — one as a legitimate worker and another as an aspiring street hustler — started to take shape.
