Heber Chankoowashtay. His last name seems pretty long and strange for a street kid from Atlanta. In the neighborhood where he lives, there's one rule that's never broken don't ever tease him about his name, or you might end up with a broken jaw. Heber was born on January 4, 2004, and has never had the calm, quiet childhood that most children grow up with. While other kids his age were busy thinking about schoolwork or playing basketball in a safe park, Heber had to think hard about what he would eat the next day and how to stay safe from bad guys who might attack him at the end of his old and run down apartment block. The neighborhood where he grew up wasn’t like the Atlanta you see in travel ads, but instead was a rough area with little sunlight and constant noise from police cars at night. A tough neighborhood forces its people into just two options in life either they have to become a predator, or they risk ending up dying in a cruel and pointless way on the streets as someone else's prey. Heber has always strongly refused to be someone else's target from the very start.

 

Heber's character was shaped completely by the tough environment of the streets, and one of his main traits is his very short temper meaning he gets angry very quickly. If you even look into his eyes for a moment as you walk by, he'll react right away and pull you by the neck without thinking twice. Heber wouldn’t step back from a fight no matter who he’s up against, even if that person is much bigger or has a weapon, because his brain is naturally wired to attack before being hit. But to be honest, what really makes him scary in his area isn’t just that he gets angry quickly, but also the fact that he holds a lot of grudges and is very revenge driven. If you end up in a fight with him and manage to win that day, never lower your guard. Heber will keep that memory hidden, think carefully about how to get back at you, and wait patiently for a long time until he finds the worst possible moment to hurt you in return. In his neighborhood, there's an unspoken rule don't leave things unresolved with Heber, because he'll inevitably return with a demand that costs a lot.

 

Since he was a teenager, Heber has known that trying to survive on his own in the tough streets of Atlanta is like slowly losing his life. He doesn't have any family to depend on, and there's no father around to keep him safe.In a world filled with hungry wolves, there's no other option but to join a bigger group. That's why his main focus is joining the strongest and most feared gang in his area street wisdom for staying alive, so others would think twice before trying to bother him. To grab the attention of the gang's leaders, he's ready to step up and take on the toughest tasks.That means doing things like running messages between different areas, hiding important evidence, and even getting caught by the police to show how loyal he is. At 22, the difference between living a long life and dying young seems smaller than before. His old grudges have built up over time, ready to be released his feelings are getting stronger, but his drive to get an official place in his dream group is firm and won't change. Heber can't go back now, and the streets of Atlanta don't give space to those who are unsure.
