Nadeez Posted March 19 Posted March 19 Eric_Hawkins Eric "Jay" Hawkins, grew up in run-down apartment building, one of the roughest blocks on the South Side, Chicago, Illinois. He was born there on 14th of July 1998. His father, Tray Hawkins left him and his family when he was 6 years old. His mother, Bailey Harper have to working two jobs in the day and night just to fed him and his sister. His mother, raised him and his sister alone without anyone's help. His mother were strong, but emotionally distant due to exhaustion raising two childrens alone. The neighborhood makes Eric's childhood terryfing. From an early age, Eric has learned to identify danger quickly, he must avoiding certain streets after dark and must not showing his weakness in the street. Eric frequently hearing gunshots at night, sees open drug dealing in the streets and schools. This kind of life shaping Eric's mentality to become stronger and brave. Eric attended a local public school where violence between students are common. Teachers were overwhelmed and opportunities were limited. Despite all of that, Eric still had potential at math and mechanics. However, his problems at home making him distracted and not focusing on school. Eric began to skipping school and eventually dropped out at age of 13. Eric saw his mother are desperate for money when his sister are pregnant. She knocked up with a thug and pregnant in age of 17. To help his mother struggling, Eric start working as drug dealer. He sell often than anyone else in the neighborhood, and makes him growing faster than anyone else. In age of 15, Eric was earning, small but steady cash. Eric even started bought groceries for home, wearing better clothes and given respect in the neighborhood. After days in days, Eric pressured to join a local gang in his neighborhood. Eric's mother begged him to stay away. Eric listening, but still insist and involved in gang activity, even he's not joining officially. Eric began to deeply involved in serious matter of ciriminal activity. One day his neighborhood got ambushed by police and Eric also detained as the member of gang relatives. Eric was jailed for 5 years in the correctional facility. His mother always visit him every weeks, hoping him to leave the street and tries to another path, but still he crossed in the same way and he never had a chance to going back.
