Inside his small house, his father often spoke in a rough Italian accent, the smell of his grandmother’s tomato sauce filled the kitchen, and old stories about Sicily were always told during dinner. For little Liam, it felt like a warm world in the middle of a cold city. Everything changed when his father died in a work accident at the port. Since that day, their house felt empty and his mother seemed to have lost her way. I don’t stay home much, often leave without saying anything, and no longer care what time Liam comes back or what he eats that day. Bills pile up, the fridge is often empty, and there is no one left to remind them about school or the future. Liam eventually taught himself how to survive. When he was a teenager, he started spending more time on the streets than at home. At first, it was just small jobs like delivering packages, keeping an eye on the aisles, or passing along messages. The money isn't a lot, but it’s enough to buy food. From there, Liam started to understand one thing: in that environment, respect doesn't come from report card grades. Respect comes from courage and from how loyal a person is to those around them. Liam has both. He is not a reckless child; he observes more than he talks. I’m learning to read people figuring out who is honest and who just takes advantage of the situation. When he finally went deeper into the world of crime, he moved calmly and carefully. For him, it’s not about being a bad person. This is about surviving by using the means that are available. There is one sentence from his father that he always remembers: family is everything. Ironically, his own family collapsed first. So Liam created his own version of family a small group of people who trust each other, look out for each other, and don’t talk much. Now the name Finocchiaro is starting to be known in different parts of the city. Not because he is the most brutal, but because he is consistent. I never look for trouble, but if trouble comes, Liam never runs away. Life never gives him a clean path, so he chose the path that kept him standing. He remains a man of few words, loyal to the code he built from the ruins of his childhood home, proving that even in the coldest city, one can build a fire to keep their own people warm.
