Rasheeq Moussa was born in Mosul, Iraq, at January 2, 1994, during a war. His father, Yashir, is an Iraq soldier. Yashir don’t even have time to see his son Rasheeq when he was born into the world. His mother, Rhasmi, was a nurse at a small hospital in Mosul.

 

As an adult, Rasheeq followed in his father's footsteps by joining the Iraqi military. He held fast to what his father had always reminded him of, striving to protect his homeland with fiery fighting spirit. However, Rasheeq fell into a militant group that promised him a safer life. He did not have time to refuse; he had already joined and followed the planned missions.

 

Rasheeq, who was no longer able to cope and was tired of the current situation, began thinking of ways to leave Iraq. He then contacted an old friend who was an immigration officer to ask for help. Rasheeq managed to leave Iraq and move to the United States.

 

There, he worked as a taxi driver. Although the job did not pay very well, his new life was much better than his life in Iraq. Now he lives his daily life without weapons and explosions haunting him at night, now only his car and the streets accompany him. Every passenger he drives has a story that makes him laugh, makes him sad, and also reminds him of what happened in Iraq. The United States became a second chance for Rasheeq to live a new life far from war.
