His father was a worker in the Belfast Harbor area, which at the time was heavily guarded due to its military and economic strategic value during the Northern Ireland conflict. His mother was a bakery shopkeeper near their home. Derek is a money-oriented person, driven by a strong ambition to achieve financial success. He is financially independent and refuses to live depending on others. Goal-oriented, Derek has a clear vision to dominate the industry of logistics or maritime sector, as he has been familiar with that field since childhood. Derek is a principled family man, because for him, family is the center of happiness and the main source of emotional support. This was proven when Derek’s father died during a business trip to Dublin in 1996, he was killed in a bombing situation in downtown of Dublin by a group of Real IRA soldiers. That day, Derek was devastated by the loss of the hero in his life. From then on, Derek became the backbone of the family, especially after his mother was diagnosed with cardiovascular disease due to stress, depression, and the historically high smoking rates in Northern Ireland. Derek decided to move to the city of Zurich for cardiovascular therapy while running a business there. However, three days before his departure to Zurich, Derek found that his mother had passed away. Having lost his entire family, Derek decided to go to Los Santos with a heavy heart to pursue his ambition. He migrated after the Belfast Agreement was formalized in 1998. In Los Santos, Derek had no connections or network within his field. Derek adventure began, he explored every corner of the city to find connections that could help him achieve his goal. His courage and openness became his greatest assets in seeking out opportunities. After a long journey, he came across a bar on the edge of the beach, where familiar-sounding music was playing. Drawn by the melody, he decided to follow the music and let himself get swept in the moment.
