Ernest Cassius Scalice is an Italian-American descendant who was born on September 5, 1996, in the city of Denver, Colorado. He is the son of a father named Henry Scalice and a mother named Amanda Frascone. Ernest's father worked as the owner and chef of an Italian restaurant in the city of Denver, while Ernest's mother was a typical homemaker. Ernest's family loved him very much; he was very spoiled by both of his parents. Little Ernest often saw his father cooking, and he really liked the things his father did in the kitchen. One day, Ernest's father's restaurant was badly burned down, causing the entire restaurant to be destroyed. Ernest's father and mother were very devastated by the incident, while Ernest was only 12 years old at the time. Ernest's father's restaurant business in Denver went completely bankrupt after the incident, and he suffered from depression due to the significant losses and unpaid debts.

A few weeks after the family's emotional condition improved, Ernest's parents decided to move the whole family to another city to make a living there and leave Denver. They finally arrived in the city of Los Santos, leaving behind the beauty of Denver, which was Ernest's birthplace. Ernest's father went back to work as a chef at a small restaurant in the west of Los Santos. Ernest spent his teenage years pursuing his hobby of playing basketball. He also enjoyed reading books about the wild, which made him known to his friends as a lover of nature. As he entered high school, Ernest attended one of the more popular schools in Los Santos. There, he made good friends and was very ambitious. One day, Ernest came home from school to find his father lying on the floor with a foamy mouth. Next to his father's body was his mother sitting on the floor, her gaze very empty. His mother was severely shocked by the incident, Ernest's father was pronounced dead from an overdose of heroin and cocaine. Ernest felt a deep and piercing sadness in his heart because he had lost his father.

A few years after his father's death, Ernest was 18 years old. He had graduated from school and needed to find money to survive in Los Santos. He initially worked odd jobs and moved around every day. After spending a few weeks working odd jobs, Ernest felt very short of the money he earned. He needed more money, and eventually, he decided to ask for help from a close friend from school. Ernest's friend offered him an illegal job helping people involved in criminal networks with simple dirty work. Ernest was still unsure about the offer, but his friend managed to convince him to accept it for more money. After doing some dirty work, Ernest felt it was enough for him; he was afraid of the backlash if he continued that job. Six years had passed since he last did dirty work, and he received bad news from the hospital. His mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, and Ernest's financial condition was dire. He switched jobs to become a taxi driver under the auspices of his close friend's taxi company. He felt that being a taxi driver alone would not be enough to cover his mother's treatment costs. Ernest asked his close friend for help again to get money, even if it was in a dirty way. Forced by difficult circumstances, Ernest tried hard to earn a lot of money. He also realized that there is a mafia crew in Los Santos, and his friend had a connection to that crew. He was motivated to join the crew, hoping it would bring in more money for him.
