Ethan is Darby’s father and is a hardworking construction worker. His mother, Merry Sloan, worked part-time shifts as a waitress in a cafe to pay the bills. They did not go on vacations or have new devices like other kids do. Though they struggled Darby had a stable life He was quiet but tough, a kid who didn’t make trouble and didn’t get noticed. Darby did what any kid from the neighbourhood would have done. Nothing special happened but at the same time nothing bad happened. Until everything did Darby’s life was steady until he turned fifteen That year, his dad was charged for killing and went to jail. The arrest shook the family to its core His mom started putting in longer shifts and came home dead tired. Darby, once a quiet but stable student, lost direction He started bunking school and avoiding his friends and slowly disconnected. He no longer cared about assignments or teachers He started missing school and avoiding everyone, slowly disconnecting. In time, he became withdrawn and unmotivated He eventually chose to give up on his schooling altogether. He was being confused as to who he was and what he would do next. Thus, he would keep locked in his small dark room. Darby’s life took on a rather dull cycle. He was mostly seen within a small dusty apartment, continuously staring at an old flickering box, raining season muffled shouting heard from adjacent units, and the cracks seemed to grow colder with each passing day. Nothing ever changed. By the time he hit eighteen, he had this deep sense of disgust and emptiness. He felt invisible. Meaningless. Nobody in the world would remember him. One cold April night, Darby could not take the silence any longer. Bitterly, he walked onto Los Flores. Here he was intercepted by a bunch of rough looking leather jacketed youths adorned with symbols of hate–members of a White Supremacist gang. In desolation or in need for identity Darby walked up and introduced himself, and he realized that his new life began here.
