Castiel Vicente is a Brazilian man from São Paulo. Born on November 14th, 2004, he was raised by two loving parents. His father’s name is Lucas Vicente, and his mother’s name is Vitória Mendes Lima. Castiel and his father got along very well. Since his childhood, Castiel would often play with his father at the park. They would play games like football, tag, hide and seek, and various other games. His mother does not lose to the father in terms of loving their child. His mother would cook meals after Castiel and his father finished playing. His mother would also stay beside him until he sleeps. Before sleeping, she would tell him a bedtime story every night. Every day is a beautiful day filled with sunshine and rainbows for Castiel.

 

But sun shines and rainbows don't last forever. When Castiel was 16, something unfortunate happened to him. It was a rainy Tuesday morning when suddenly a kid showed up to school with a rifle. The kid immediately shot a whole round of bullets through the hallway. Unfortunately, Castiel was shot in the chest when he was trying to escape. Though he was shot, it was a miracle that he was still alive. Hoping to get out of this school shooting alive, he pretended to be dead. He lay down on the floor covered with the student’s blood. He held his pain until the afternoon when the school shooting had stopped. He dared not to move a single muscle throughout this event. When the school shooting had stopped, Castiel was the lone survivor during this tragedy. He was then rushed to the hospital, where he was treated by the doctors. Castiel had to go through a 6-hour surgery to remove the bullets and treat the gunshot wounds. Castiel’s parents were glad that their son had recovered.

 

After Castiel had recovered, another problem arose. Paying the hospital bills was a huge problem for Castiel’s parents. Though Castiel lived a happy childhood, he grew up in the slums. Castiel’s parents weren’t that rich either. They ended up borrowing money to pay the hospital bills. They are now in debt. Castiel’s father had to work 3 jobs to help slowly cover the debt. Castiel’s mother also worked 12 hours a day to help cover the debt. Things are going downhill from here. Castiel’s mother started doing shady jobs to help cover the debt without the father knowing it.

 

One night, Castiel happens to see his mother being dropped off by a really fancy car. Castiel thought that this event was strange because their family doesn’t have any relationships with rich people. When Castiel tried to approach his mother, he stopped and hid when he saw a man approaching his mother. Castiel couldn’t hear their conversations, but after some time, his mother went to go with the unknown man. Castiel decided to follow them. To his surprise, his mother had entered a motel with the man. Castiel had a terrible feeling about this situation; he hesitated to continue following them, but he had no choice but to check on his mother’s safety.

When he was eavesdropping on his mother, he heard sounds he wished he had never heard. He heard sounds of his mother making love to the stranger. Castiel was devastated. He was overwhelmed with many emotions. But those emotions were mostly disappointment and guilt. Castiel decided that he wouldn't tell his father because he knew that if his father knew about this event, his family would fall apart. Castiel went home because he couldn’t watch his mother betray her own family anymore.

 

One day, Castiel’s mother went out on a “business trip,” she says. Castiel’s father wasn’t suspicious of his wife because he thought that this business trip would help pay the debt. After a few days, Castiel’s mother hasn’t come back home. Days become weeks, and weeks soon turn into months. Castiel’s father becomes very worried with his wife. He calls the police to report a missing person. After a few days, the police announced that Vitória Mendes Lima was raped in a motel. She then was murdered by a person. 

 

Castiel’s father was heartbroken, and he went berserk. He was in disbelief that his own wife had cheated on him during the hardships of this life. Though it was for covering their debt, Castiel’s father was hoping to cover the debt with honest money. Castiel’s father is broken now. He drinks himself to sleep every night. Soon Castiel’s father became an alcoholic. Castiel was sad seeing his father breaking. Castiel’s father soon became abusive towards Castiel. He began thinking that it was all Castiel’s fault because they were in debt because of Castiel.

Castiel began to run away from home often due to his abusive father. After a few weeks of torment, Lucas Vicente had attempted suicide due to the massive amount of stress.

 

Castiel was grieving because of the deaths of his parents. Though they were broken, they were once loving parents.

After a few months, Castiel couldn’t keep up paying house bills. He ended up in the streets. He felt miserable. He was about to end it all, but then he saw a flyer about a city where you can start it all over. “Welcome to Los Santos, a city where you can start a new life without worrying about your old one. Here you can find jobs and make your life a better one!”

 

Castiel saw hope when he saw this flyer. He decided to go to Los Santos the very next day.
