Leah and her family used to live a life of wealth and fortune—owning a large mansion in one of Richman's neighborhoods, happiness was abundant without anyone interfering with their lives. Leah grew up to be a happy-go-lucky child. Despite the wealth that the Miller family had, she never felt very proud nor did she wish to spend the money that the Miller's had. Leah had many friends, because she was not picky about who she should be friends with. Her parents were grateful to see Leah befriending anyone—unlike her brother, who only befriended rich people. But the above statement was just the beginning and the end of the Miller family's happiness. At the age of eight, Leah had to witness the tragic death of her mother and father. Hit by a giant truck, Jonah Miller and Lily Takagi fell asleep helplessly amidst the blood that clung to their heads. It was discovered that the truck driver was one of the gangsters who had been targeting Jonah Miller and Lily Takagi for a long time. They were executing a contract with another company that was spiteful of the Miller family's presence. Until now, the murder case has not been continued because the hitman died as a result of his own careless actions. Since the incident, Leah became an orphan who was eventually fostered by the Mother Mary Orphanage. Leah lost all the special features she had received as a child. All of her parents' remaining wealth was taken by her greedy brother without leaving any assets for Leah to utilize for her survival. But Leah, a very innocent child, chose not to take her brother to court. This was because she believed that her brother would one day take her back from the orphanage. Besides, she would never find her brother again. Her brother's embezzlement of her inheritance was eventually caught by the police, but Leah's brother managed to escape to another country. Without Leah realizing it, she became a vengeful and hateful child. At the age of 15, Leah was eager to attend Artesia High School. However, her caregivers told her that they did not have enough funds to support her education. To that end, Leah only asked for one thing—to be allowed to leave the orphanage so that she could more freely find a job and get an education. The caregivers, who knew the cruelty of the outside world, asked Leah to think many times before making a final decision, but Leah remained steadfast and did not back down from her decision. After being allowed, Leah decided to apply for a job. This was done with great difficulty given Leah's young age. Not many places were willing to accept her, despite Leah's best efforts. When the time came for her to go to the Alhambra, Leah said that she was ready for whatever happened next, and was also ready to falsify her real age in order to work. Finally, Leah was able to go to school. A year later, Leah was free enough to go outside the orphanage. She rode her beloved bicycle named “Kawargi” all over Los Santos, until she and her bicycle landed in an East Los Santos neighborhood that was a shopping center for Asians, Little Tokyo. There, Leah met and had an altercation with one of Little Tokyo's workers, Henry Sakamoto before the fight was eventually broken up by Hideo Hayashi, Henry Sakamoto's cousin. The fight was the first step in Henry and Leah's closeness. Afterward, Leah visited Henry's place more often to see him. At one point, Henry presented Leah with a motorcycle named “Jennie”. Not only that, Henry also took custody of Leah from Mother Mary's Orphanage and stipulated that Leah live in his house. Slowly, Leah takes a liking to Henry, as does Henry in the midst of his relationship with Elia Atchakos.
