That night, Azarias Olmedo was just hanging out at this little characterless diner at one of the borders of Los Santos while sipping on tequila without a care in the world. He was dressed well, wearing a bright shining watch, and appeared like any other well put together man or appeared to want everyone to perceive him as one. Having just polished two tacos, he casually threw his cash on the table, ensuring the waiter and people nearby didn’t miss how “rich” he was. He left wearing a smug expression, entered his aged yet dependable vehicle before taking off. He was making his way back home to Mexico to his family with intentions to demonstrate all the achievements he made while staying in America.

After a few hours of driving, Azarias felt thirsty and decided this was enough and he had to pull over and grab something to drink from some random convenience store in the middle of the desert. He walked into the store, bought a few packets of chips, some sodas and made his way towards the cashier. It was an ordinary stop—until the door crashed open. They carry firearms. Start shouting, “Throw whatever you have in your pockets or bags, on the floor now! Empty them out!” The clerk got stuck, frightened like a dry leaf. But Azarias? Never. He wasn’t scared of anything. She chuckled as if it was a funny situation because in reality, it was a joke. “Oh please? This was your master plan? Bombing a gas station? Wow you guys are poor,” he said with amusement.

Pulling out a wallet and taking out a piece of money without any limits, he threw it onto the ground. “Here. Take it. But to be fair, this will not make any difference to the pathetic life you have.” For a moment, the robbers were speechless. Then, one of them stepped ahead; apparently he was furious. “Do you have a death wish or something man?”
Azarias responded with a shoulder shrug and a smug look on his face. “No, I’m just being honest. Stop wasting my time.” Most people were unable to restrain themselves. One of the guys looked frightened. He shot without thinking twice. Azarias touched the ground with a thud, blood swirling around. The boasting expression on his face disappeared, through utter surprise perhaps, but possibly a slight regret. As he drifted into darkness, he pictured his house and a family who will wait to see him, which he has now lost. With the limelight on Azarias, the robbers fled the scene. He was the unfortunate end to his struggle which didn’t come with a loud bang, but rather a price of ungratefulness.
