Gareth Walsh, or commonly known as Gerry, was born on October 19, 1995, in Dublin, Ireland. He is the son of a prominent businessman in Ireland. At one point, his father, Louis Walsh, decided to expand his business to the United States, so the family moved to California in 2004. Gareth enjoyed a glamorous lifestyle from a young age thanks to his father’s successful career. It wasn't uncommon for him to attract the attention of many women during his teenage years. On October 19, 2007, when Gareth turned 12, his father gave him a PlayStation 2 and a sports car, even though Gerry was too young to drive it.

 

Naively, it turned out that Louis was not just an ordinary businessman—he was controlling 75% of the drug trade in California at that time. Gerry learned of this when he turned 18, after the CIA successfully apprehended his father. Despite his arrest, Gerry and his family still had access to all of Louis’s assets, which were not seized by the authorities. Worse, Louis was still able to manage his drug business from behind bars. Upon learning the truth, Gerry saw his father as a criminal. He tried to convince his mother to leave Louis, but she refused. In the end, Gerry left secretly, taking the sports car his father had given him when he was 12.

 

Five years passed with no word from Gerry, and he was unaware that his father’s drug business had grown substantially, now even supplying drugs to Germany. During this time, Gerry lived a carefree life, selling his father’s sports car and deciding to continue his education at a university in London. There, he formed a band with some of his college friends. As an Irishman, Gerry didn’t care for traditional Irish music; instead, he was drawn to Britpop, which became the genre for his band.

 

After touring several major cities in London, the band broke up due to internal issues, with members leaving because of their inflated egos. Gerry chose to leave as well, stepping away from the band. He returned to the U.S. in search of his mother, but as soon as he arrived at Los Santos Airport, he was kidnapped by his father’s men. They forced him to take over his father’s drug empire, but Gerry refused. Instead, he managed to escape and flee America once again, this time deciding to return to Dublin to escape his father’s reach and regain his freedom.
