Jack Margrave grew up on the gritty streets of Boston. Margy was Jack Margrave's nickname as a child. His father, Jack Reacher, was a former Navy SEAL who was awarded the Bronze Star Medal and Purple Heart. His mother, Neagley Clinton, was a homemaker who took care of her family with love and affection. Margrave was an only child, his father instilled a love for precision, strategy and toughness in Margrave from a young age. However, Margrave was more interested in things related to time, space and air - the vastness of the universe, always racing with the question of how everything is interconnected. His room was filled with telescopes, books on astrophysics, and elaborate airplane models. He had a natural intelligence and an almost obsessive thirst for knowledge about the mechanics of the universe. However, despite his intellectual gifts and supportive family, Margrave's environment was incompatible with his education.

 

The Margrave family lived in a harsh neighborhood where violence and crime were daily occurrences. Margrave was still in his teens which was a time when Margrave wanted to find himself. With such a coercive environment, Margrave had to imitate the behavior of his peers. As a result, his sharp mind and curiosity about how things worked extended to darker aspects such as street survival, guns, and gangs. As a result of Margrave's experiences as a teenager, Margrave turned into a wilder person. Margrave became irritable, impulsive, perfectionistic and even irresponsible. Over time, his intelligence and frustration with his environment led him to break the rules frequently. He engaged in illegal activities, using his knowledge for personal gain, ignoring the values his father tried to instill in him. Margrave's disappointed father was forced to send Margrave to live alone in the city of San Andreas.

Now 26 years old, Margrave had to survive alone in the city of San Andreas with no one he knew. He knows that he has the potential to be great, but the weight of his choices is overwhelming. The inner battle between the man raised by his father and the man who has found himself is a big problem for Margrave to know where he should go.
