      18 year old Nino Puig is from Puerto Rico. He is full of life and energy but longs for something more in his life than worldly things. After a big fight with his parents, Nino decides that he's had enough of their rules and restrictions. He wants to explore the world and be himself. So, with a heavy heart and a backpack full of clothes and most valuable items, Nino set off for the unknown.  At first, Nino feels a sense of freedom, but reality soon hits him hard.

 

      He was alone, had no place to himself and no food to eat. He felt like he was constantly running and had no real goal. As days turned into weeks, Nino began to consider what he would do to survive on the streets.  One day while wandering the streets of Los Santos in the Verona area, Nino discovered a street gang called Almsoa Latin. The members' yellow scarves, tattoos, and piercing eyes scare him, but he is fascinated by the friendship and brotherhood. He walked up to his manager, a burly man with shaved hair and a tattoo on his arm, and introduced himself.
 

     The one of high rolle saw potential in Nino and invited him to join their band. Nino is hesitant at first but longs to go somewhere and do something that makes him feel alive. A few days later, he became a full member of Almsoa Latin. Nino feels a new sense of belonging and purpose in the gang. They ride bicycles through the streets, write graffiti on  walls, and wear their signature bandanas. He learned  to fight,  shoot guns, and  run through the streets. He felt part of his family and his brothers, which made him feel alive. But this newfound sense of belonging has its consequences. The gang's activities are often dangerous and illegal, and soon Nino finds himself in situations he never imagined possible. He had to steal to feed himself and his new family. He watched rival gangs attack his friends and felt a constant fear of retaliation. He saw the harsh reality of what it means to be part of a gang and this has been Nino's life choice until now
