Rockie_Benjiro In the home where Rockie lived, the father was a tough, disciplined military mechanic, while the mother, Linda, was patient and quietly enduring hardship with her husband. Rockie picked up many of his father’s, even if small, garage chores. He liked it best when he was allowed to sit and watch as his father tackled the various problems put to him by the old cars he was brought to repair. He may not have understood much of it, but it was the beginning of his fascination for machines. Directly after high school, Rockie didn’t know what to do. In order to meet basic needs, he took jobs such as working in auto spare parts store and as a package courier. Rockie felt empty. Whenever he passed a workshop, he would stop and watch people dismantle a car. He felt alive there. One day, however, he delivered to a small garage down the street. The owner, Rick, an elderly gentleman, invited Rockie to chat and then offered him a part time job. At first, Rockie was assigned a helper, but little by little, Rick taught him the mechanics of the trade: adjusting carburetors and fixing bodies of cars. The oil-slicked hands and weeks spent with the pungent odor surging around him didn't bother Rockie one bit. It had certainly been a few years there and Rockie had gained a lot. But he felt it was time to advance. Gaining additional experience and establishing new benchmarks to prove worthiness seemed like a valid reason to progress. Gregarious as he was, Rockie saw it as a challenge. While Los Angeles had taught him valuable lessons, he wanted more than the experience of working in a small garage. With limited savings and after receiving his parents' blessing, Rockie moved to Los Santos. He had very few things to bring, just a few tools and the belief that hard work gets rewarded. Rockie came to that city to build his future the way he wanted, from the ground up, and not just to find a job.
