Hina Avery is an associate working under the Three Clans, an organization based in San Fierro, San Andreas. She is one of the few Asian-Americans working for Jeannie Sung and the acting kumicho, Mrs. Zeta. The Three Clans maintain business ties with several Los Santos gangs regarding the trafficking of illicit drugs and weapons. One such gang, the East Side Asian Boyz, had placed an order for a weapons shipment; however, the arms would not be handed over until payment was made upfront. As part of the organization's structured operations, Jeannie Sung dispatched Hina Avery to meet with a representative from the East Side Asian Boyz.

En route, Jeannie Sung contacted Hina Avery again regarding the meeting. She provided the location coordinates and asked whether additional personnel were needed. Hina Avery remained optimistic that the East Side Asian Boyz would not cause complications, noting that they were not the only "Asian Boyz" faction connected to the Three Clans and that the majority remained cooperative regarding the clan's business terms. Jeannie Sung repeatedly verified Hina Avery's confidence in her decision, mentioning that the East Side Asian Boyz were currently facing internal issues that could lead to a schism. There was no guarantee that such a rift wouldn't endanger the Three Clans. Nevertheless, Hina Avery proceeded to meet the East Side Asian Boyz alone.

Turning into the sewer, Hina Avery noticed nothing amiss. She was unarmed, having been forced to ditch her weapon weeks earlier to evade the police. Upon reaching the end of the sewer, she spotted the East Side Asian Boyz representative, a man she barely recognized, Ismael "DeepSpook" Chea. Hina Avery stated plainly that she had come to collect payment for the weapons shipment the gang had requested. However, it turned out DeepSpook had other intentions. Internal conflict arose within the East Side Asian Boyz when the Three Clans refused to lower their already low prices, sparking a feud. Consequently, DeepSpook terminated the business relationship and killed Hina Avery on the spot, hoping the message would not be passed on. Hina Avery's death brought DeepSpook a sense of relief. Shortly thereafter, however, the Three Clans taught them a lesson and tortured DeepSpook to death.
