Ariel Mckenna was born on April 15, 2000, in a neighborhood in Philadelphia that contains many old buildings and a high rate of crime. In this environment, he learned at an early age that individuals must work to obtain what they need. Because he lived in an area where residents have low to moderate incomes, his early years lacked expensive items but the persistence of the local workers, the sound of the SEPTA buses, the scent of small restaurants and the many large paintings on public walls characterized his surroundings. By stretching every dollar to pay for their needs, his family showed him how to use available materials effectively. As a result of those conditions, he developed strong skills for surviving in difficult situations while he was still very young. If he lacked certain items, he did not express dissatisfaction. He spent his time walking on the public paths of the city. On the walks he observed the broken concrete of the sidewalks and he looked at the world exactly as it appears.

 

When Ariel became twenty years old, he decided that his lack of wealth would not limit his future achievements. He lived as an adult who acted without help from others. To pay for his needs, he worked at many different temporary jobs in Philadelphia. At the same time he developed his personal goals in private. If he worked during the night or talked with people in his neighborhood, he acted in a calm way and watched others carefully. On the days when he was not working, he sat on the stairs of houses made of brick. In those moments he wrote his ideas in a used book or listened to the loud noises of the city. Because his family had little money, he did not feel angry but the difficulties made him believe that good things happen. For Ariel, every problem is a reason to improve himself.

 

As a young man Ariel adapts to a world that changes rapidly he has developed a personality that is reliable and consistent. It is clear to him that his value depends on how he recovers from difficulties, how he maintains his allegiances and how he remains connected to his origins while he pursues professional advancement. For Ariel, the acquisition of wealth is a goal but he does not pursue it if it requires him to sacrifice his honesty or his authentic relationships. He looks toward the time ahead without feelings of worry. He observes his future with the calm and firm focus of a person from Philadelphia. To him the ability to handle future challenges is certain because he knows how to endure through hardships.
