Richardo Putra Xcel Posted December 15, 2025 Posted December 15, 2025 (edited) Michael Eldrige Michael Eldrige spent the early years of his adulthood stuck in the tedium of a highstress corporate office in Liberty City, a diligent employee who followed the rules to the letter, often working overtime to complete reports in the hopes of a promotion that never seemed to materialize. But the corporate world cared little a slight mistake in a quarterly financial report gave his superiors the excuse they needed to cut costs. He was fired without fanfare, escorted out of the building with his personal effects stored in a small box. With his reputation in the local industry ruined and his savings dwindling between the rent, Michael knew he had reached a dead end. Now he decided to risk it all on a fresh start: selling all his furniture and electronics to afford a oneway plane ticket to Los Santos and leave his failures and previous identity behind him. Upon arrival in Los Santos, Michael was confronted with the very harsh reality of having to start over with literally nothing. He left the airport with no more than a duffel bag full of clothes and less than fifty dollars in his pocket. He had no car, no apartment arranged, and no connections in town. The first few weeks were those of subsistence he had to sleep in lowly hostels and sometimes on park benches if he was short the money to get a bed. The glittery image of the city he had viewed on television contrasted with his grim reality. He walked miles every day looking for employment, and without a car or local address, even the lowest types of jobs turned him away. He'd once been a whitecollar worker, but he found himself invisible in this city of excess. Desperation eventually led him to taking jobs that nobody else wanted. He finally managed to secure employment as a manual laborer down at the chaotic docks, moving crates around for hours under the burning sun. This was heavy work that blistered his hands and broke his back, far from the airconditioning of the office he used to inhabit, but it brought a regular paycheck. He used his first earnings to rent a small, dingy motel room on the outskirts of the city. Though he had arrived with literally nothing, the hard physical labor started to toughen him up. Michael stopped looking backward to his corporate past and focused entirely on the present, saving every cent he could to buy a cheap vehicle, determined to climb his way up from the bottom of the food chain in Los Santos.
