The lights, the roar of the crowd, the distortion screaming through his amplifier, for him that was home. He and his band, Dreambound, toured across the country in a bus, chasing dreams and cheap thrills. For years, he lived on adrenaline, guitars, and the illusion that his road would never end. But it did. When fame brushed past them, a hit single, a record deal on the horizon, Jack’s personal life began to crumble. His wife, Bella, had grown tired of the missed birthdays and endless nights waiting for phone calls that never came. Their son, David, barely recognized him as a father, only as a face on album covers. When Bella finally left, taking his son with her, the silence hit harder than any broken guitar string. Fenton spiraled. The gigs dried up. The band fell apart under the weight of egos, empty bottles, and broken promises. The music that once freed him became a ghost he couldn’t bear to hear. He sold his guitars, bought a second-hand old truck, and hit the road again but this time, it wasn’t for fame. It was for survival. Now, Fenton drives the midnight highways, driving for anything he can do across the country. He enjoys every route he takes. If it's for a better dream as better person, why not? Truck, Bus, As long as he could travel again, on the road again, as if it's his last. The hum of the diesel engine replaced the feedback of his amplifier. The old radio sound replaced the crowd. He keeps an old photo of his family taped to the dashboard, next to a faded backstage pass, relics of the two lives he’s lived. Sometimes, when the road stretches long and the night gets too quiet, he strums a broken chord on a guitar he keeps behind the driver’s seat. The strings are rusty, the sound uneven, but for a moment, he feels alive again, a ghost of the man he used to be, chasing redemption mile after mile.
