Trent_Maddox The night sky spread widely over the Bluegrass State, stars sharp against the black of skies. Trent's sat over the bonnet of his truck, rummaging through a pants pocket for a stick of Red Marlboro to enjoy the night. The smoke's curling like a ghost. Yet the voices in his head told him to pray and blame himself, making the silence loud. He did this after work as a routine, as if it were an enjoyment or a phase of life. He wondered why he now felt so gloomy and restless. One scar everyone said, about him, he is living with the memory of his brother's death. He had watched as his brother died in an accident in the middle of the highway that cut through the state line between Tennessee and Kentucky, the cracked road filled by his brother’s blood and the blood shining under the moon. No one came that time, only him collapsed in despair. Trent cries and sadness unfaded until a truck pulled over he still felt broken as could it be. He knew It was his grandfather’s truck. The old man drawn by a shadow of dread, had followed the road that his grandchildren traveled as instinct itself steered him. Both of them realized it was too late and now the brother’s hand was pale, stiff, cold then he's gone. Souls hung up in the silence as they cried out, even as police and ambulance sirens blared and tires screeched at the road’s edge. The only dream Trent and his brother ever had was to build two bikes and ride together across the state. That day, their purpose was finished with an unexpected ending. The bike of his brother's malfunctioned in the engine, makes it to speed up to the limit and burn gasoline quickly, just like hell swallowed a little boy. Trent suddenly realized that he's finished a pack of cigarettes in an hour, lost in thought. He decided to return to his thin walled trailer with his quiet, bleak, and restless that slipping away himself from the living world when the door shut with his sleep problem and backpain.
