A new beginning The automatic doors of Los Santos International Airport slid open as the eighteen-year-old stepped outside, carrying a duffel bag over his shoulder and a suitcase in his hand. After spending his entire life in Detroit, this was the first time he had ever set foot in Los Santos. Warm ocean air brushed against his face while the sound of traffic, distant sirens, and passing aircraft filled the atmosphere. Towering palm trees lined the roads beyond the terminal, giving the city a completely different feeling from the industrial streets he had grown up with. He paused for a moment, looking around at the endless stream of travelers and taxis waiting outside the airport. This was it—a fresh start, far away from everything he had ever known. He raised his hand and waved down a taxi parked near the curb. The yellow cab slowly pulled over, and the driver rolled down the window. "Where to, kid?" the driver asked. "Playa del Seville," he replied. "I've got a flat there." The driver nodded, started the engine, and merged into the busy streets of Los Santos. As the city skyline stretched out before him, illuminated by the afternoon sun, he leaned back in his seat and watched the unfamiliar neighborhoods pass by. Downtown skyscrapers towered in the distance, luxury cars sped along the highways, and the vibrant energy of Los Santos surrounded him. The door slowly creaked open. Inside was a small and somewhat rundown flat. The walls were stained with age, the furniture looked second-hand, and the old ceiling fan spun lazily above the living room. A worn couch sat near the window, while a tiny kitchen occupied one corner of the apartment. It wasn't luxurious. It wasn't impressive. But it was his. He stepped inside, set his bags down beside the couch, and walked toward the window overlooking the streets of Playa del Seville. Outside, the neighborhood remained alive—cars passing by, people talking loudly, and music drifting through the evening air. A faint smile appeared on his face. Los Santos wasn't going to be easy.
